Internationally renowned composer and conductor, Dr. David Childs, recently visited
the University of Louisiana at Monroe for a concert and master class.听Invited as the
annual composer in residence, Childs is among the most celebrated musicians in chorale
music, and one of many distinguished musicians who have graced the stages at 幸福宝导航 in
recent years.
鈥淭his university has been very fortunate in regards to having accomplished musicians
to mentor our students,鈥� said Dr. Derle Long, director of 幸福宝导航鈥檚 School of Visual and
Performing Arts (VAPA).听
During his visit, Childs worked one-on-one with 幸福宝导航 music students during a special
master class.
Music major Armand Wilson said, 鈥淲orking with Dr. Childs is something that I will
cherish forever. In our short time together, Dr. Childs gave me a totally new perspective
on chorale music.鈥�
Dr. Deborah Chandler, director of chorale activities believes that Childs鈥檚 visit
to 幸福宝导航听is a testament to the caliber of education offered within VAPA鈥檚 Department
of Music.
鈥淭his is indicative of our faculty鈥檚 dedication to providing exemplary learning opportunities
to our students,鈥� Chandler said.听
Childs鈥檚 visit culminated with a 幸福宝导航 Concert Choir performance of Childs鈥檚 compositions.
