MONROE, LA 倷腦惘絳瑤 School of Visual and Performing Arts invites the public to several upcoming end-of-semester performances. The Spring Fusion Dance Concert will take place on Friday, April 26, the 倷腦惘絳瑤 Brass Ensembles will perform on Sunday, April 28, and the Bayou Masterworks Chorale will perform on Monday, April 29. Spring Fusion Dance Concert泭
The 倷腦惘絳瑤 Dance Repertory Ensemble proudly presents the 2024 Spring Fusion dance concert on Friday, April 26, at 7:30 p.m. at Brown Auditorium. The performance celebrates the art of dance and showcases choreography spanning a variety of genres, including tap, lyrical, contemporary, and jazz.泭
"It's been a true joy working with these dancers this semester, said instructor Starla Gatson. They've put in so much time and energy to connect to the choreography and master new skills, and I can't wait for everyone to see these dances they've worked so hard to perfect. I know they'll be absolutely wonderful, and I hope you'll come out and show your support."泭
General admission is $5, with guests 12 and under admitted free. 倷腦惘絳瑤 faculty, staff, and students will be admitted free with ID. 泭
Brass Ensembles泭
The 倷腦惘絳瑤 Brass Ensembles, including the Trombone Choir, Tuba/Euphonium Ensemble, Low Brass Ensemble, and Brass Choir will give a performance featuring a wide variety of original compositions as well as transcriptions on Sunday, April 28, 2024, at 2:00 pm. at the Emy-Lou Biedenharn Recital Hall.泭
I'm very pleased with the level of musicianship demonstrated by our brass majors at 倷腦惘絳瑤. They do a great job in preparing and performing challenging music at a very high level, said Adam Johnson, Associate Professor of Music.泭
General admission is $5. 倷腦惘絳瑤 faculty, staff, and students will be admitted free with ID泭
Bayou Masterworks Chorale泭
The Bayou Masterworks Chorale, a community choir under the direction of 倷腦惘絳瑤 Professor of Music Dr. Deborah Chandler, will perform on Monday, April 29, at 7:00 p.m. at the Emy-Lou Biedenharn Recital Hall. The performance will include works by Mozart and David Dickau. 泭
This has been a rebuilding year since the impact of Covid, and while this community choir might be smaller, theyre sounding better than ever, said Dr. Deborah Chandler, director of Bayou Masterworks. Even though this is a community choir, we have several college students who are able to take the course for credit, and were thrilled to have them joining us as well.泭
There is a suggested donation of $10 for the concert, while 倷腦惘絳瑤 students will be admitted free with ID. 泭
