Celebration of Veteran's Day at ÐÒ¸£±¦µ¼º½
On Fri., Nov. 11, ÐÒ¸£±¦µ¼º½ will host a Celebration of Veteran's Day to honor all ÐÒ¸£±¦µ¼º½ veterans and family members who have served our nation. The event begins at 12 noon in Scott Plaza, adjacent to the ÐÒ¸£±¦µ¼º½ Library.
The program will include a welcome and
recognition of these veterans and ÐÒ¸£±¦µ¼º½ family members. In particular,
the event will honor Chad Powell, the son-in-law of Dan Chason
of the ÐÒ¸£±¦µ¼º½ Police Department. Powell died while serving his country
in the Iraq War. His wife is Danielle Chason Powell, and his
son is 3-year-old Elijah Powell.
There will be a moment of silence. President James E. Cofer,
ÐÒ¸£±¦µ¼º½ family members and the veterans will together tie a yellow
ribbon around three trees in Scott Plaza. History professor Dr.
H. Perry Jones will deliver a remembrance message. The event
will close with a rendition of the Star Spangled Banner under
the direction of Derle Long.
All visitors are welcome to attend.
